Liberty Emma Collections

We sat down with Liberty, owner of the hottest new store in the city, Liberty Emma Collections.

Liberty Emma has been a Tasmanian-owned small businesses for 7 years but Liberty has recently taken the brave leap into opening up a storefront to be more connected to the Hobart community.

‘Throughout lockdown, the isolation was really hard and it was at this time that I got to pause and reflect. It was then I decided to open up a store’ | says Liberty.

The store radiates elegance with collections of beautiful leather bags, wallets, sterling silver jewellery, homewares and fragrances.

Liberty designs all of the leather work herself, designing items that are timeless pieces. The items are then all handmade in a variety of locations from ethically sourced leather.

‘Dad was a leather worker, working here and overseas. He taught me so much when I began working with leather. This work allows me to be creative again and I simply adore it’.

Many of the pieces here are lifetime pieces, as Liberty explains, the new range of leather jackets (launched this week!) are designed to last 20 or so years. ‘They are pieces that hopefully you can pass onto the next generation. Through covid people have become a lot more conscious of not only buying locally but also buying ethically and this is a large part of my ethos here’.

We are pleased to announce that Liberty Emma is also about to be the exclusive stockist of Grown Alchemist products here in Hobart. These non-toxic, vegan, cruelty-free products use certified organic ingredients.

A passion for Liberty is supporting working mums, outside of her own leather collection the store is stocked with products sourced from Australian brands run by mums.

‘I want to encourage support for mum’s who are trying their hand at owning businesses, I know how tough it can be’.

Liberty tells us that she loves having a store and being part of the business community in Hobart. ‘I just adore being surrounded by fellow retailers and restaurants, it is such a friendly community here in Hobart’.

This beautiful store is open 10 am to 4 pm, Tuesday through to Sunday. Located at 101 Murray Street, opposite the Chemist Warehouse. A perfect trip on a Sunday after a Farm Gate Market visit.
