Maybe the resolution is to move more, meet new people, or try something new. Hobart has plenty of ways to make it happen. Here are five local picks to get the body moving and the endorphins flowing this month.
1. Join a local Run Club

Run clubs are the new way to socialise. Hobart has a mixed bag of groups for beginners and pros, walkers and runners – there’s something for everyone. Each club’s route ends at a café, bar, or restaurant – say less!
2. Happi Studios Open Weekend

Happi Studios is throwing open the doors for a full weekend of free classes across its multi-modality spaces. On 17 and 18 Jan. If you’ve ever wanted to give Rhythm Ride, Two Reformer Studios, or Hot Mat Pilates a try- now is the time!
Feel the heat of the infrared-heated Hot Mat studio, experience the light-filled energy of Reformer Pilates, and sweat it out in the Ride studio – all on the house. Spots are live in the Happi app, so book early or join the waitlist.
3. ELEVATE by Form+

Form+ Pilates is hosting ELEVATE, a large-scale wellness event at PW1 on Saturday, 24 January.
Expect mindful movement, breathwork, and a nourishing stretch session, plus a body-positive workshop with Jemma Rose. Guests will enjoy a whole-food brunch, Tasmanian juices, coffee, and curated activations from local partners.
Each ticket includes a goody bag valued at over $75 and the chance to win an ultimate getaway. This is more than a workout, it’s a celebration of community and self-care on Hobart’s waterfront.
4. RockIt Climbing Gym Summer Sector

Ready to tick off some boulders? RockIt’s Summer Sector 26 is a six-week, self-paced climbing challenge across Hobart and Derwent Park (7 Jan–21 Feb).
Collect points, score weekly prizes, and push limits at the Top 6 Finals on 20 Feb, followed by the Open-Invite Pumpfest on 21 Feb. It’s fun, competitive, and a great way to build strength while hanging out with the climbing community.
5. DKHAC Outdoor Sessions

Take fitness outdoors with Doone Kennedy Hobart Aquatic Centre’s monthly Outdoor Sessions running through March.
These 45-minute workouts include a warm-up and cool-down in a supportive environment. Members can book via the TechnoGym app, and non-members are welcome too – just call the team to secure a spot. Sunshine, fresh air, and movement? Yes, please!
