We seek to deliver programs of outstanding quality and benefit – increasing musical participation, providing pathways to professional careers and growing lifetime musicians and supporters of the arts. TYO programs provide musical pathways for a wide range of participants, from those new to ensemble music, through to accomplished youth musicians who are already experienced performers. Musicians in TYO ensembles also have opportunity to participate, at no additional cost, in a second TYO ensemble or a TYO Tasmanian Chorale.
A key element of TYO’s offering is exceptional performance opportunities, including high artistic value collaborations with professional musicians. All TYO musicians and singers will have opportunity to perform in at least three TYO concerts each year, plus community performances. For intermediate and senior ensembles, performance opportunities will include regional ‘mini-tours’ and chamber concerts. Senior ensembles will experience full collaborations with professional ensembles such as Van Diemen’s Band and the TSO. These performances are an outstanding benefit of TYO participation and collaborations are particularly valuable to young people who may be considering a professional career in the sector.
