The CWA (Country Womans Association) Gift Shop in Hobart, established in 1942, has a rich history. Initially located on Murray St and later Mathers Lane, it found its permanent home at 165 Elizabeth St in 1951 after being a Butcher’s shop and a Hotel. C.W.A members brought their goods to sell, helping their families during difficult times. Operating for 80 years, the shop boasts diverse offerings including handcraft, produce, cakes, and special occasion gifts. Each member is identified by a number, ensuring anonymity for their products. This iconic shop, part of a statewide network, has garnered local, national, and international customers.
