Odyssey Strength & Conditioning is a boutique strength and conditioning gym in Hobart, built around community, consistency, and training for real life.
I’m Terry, owner and head coach. Odyssey was born from a simple idea: I wanted to create the kind of gym where people feel safe, supported, and genuinely looked after from the moment they walk through the door. Not intimidating. Not ego-driven. Just real people, training together.
As a dad and a small business owner, I know how hard it can be to juggle life, family, work, and your own health. Training shouldn’t add stress, it should give you confidence, energy, and something positive that carries over into the rest of your life.
At Odyssey, coaching really matters. We take the time to teach movement properly, scale everything to the individual, and focus on progress that lasts. Success here isn’t just heavier lifts or faster times. It’s moving better, feeling stronger, and trusting your body again.
In our classes, we work on:
• Strength training through squats, deadlifts, presses, and Olympic lifting, with a strong focus on technique and quality movement
• Conditioning pieces that build fitness, engine, and resilience without leaving you broken or burnt out
• Gymnastics and bodyweight movements like pull-ups, push-ups, lunges, core work, and carries, always adjusted to the individual
• Accessory work to support joints, balance muscle groups, and build durability for long-term progress
• Thoughtful warm-ups that prepare the body properly, not just get you sweaty
• Cooldowns, mobility, and breathing work to help you recover, move better, and leave feeling good
Classes are kept small (capped at 14 people) so everyone gets real coaching and attention. Whether it’s your first day in a gym or you’ve been training for years, you’ll be met where you’re at. No pressure to keep up, no expectations to be anything other than yourself.
Odyssey is more than a gym. It’s a community that shows up for parents, professionals, students, a place to build strength, confidence, and a sense of belonging alongside people who genuinely care.
