A magic lamp, a mystical genie, one young man and three wishes.
Aladdin is a Chinese tailor's son with big dreams and an even bigger heart. He's in love with a princess and won't let palace walls or royal titles get in the way of romance. When Aladdin enters a cave and encounters a mythical being and their dancing jewels, the young adventurer thinks he has found a way to rise above his lot in life – but an evil sorcerer has other ideas. Aladdin must use every ounce of determination, charm and daring to be with the woman he loves.

Staged in its classic setting in ancient Arabia, the Victorian State Ballet's Aladdin is a fantastical retelling for families, including lush sets, sumptuous costumes and vivid imagery to entertain young imaginations. Created by Michelle Cassar de Sierra and Martin Sierra, Aladdin also incorporates segments of the classic ballet La Bayadere, itself a tale of star-crossed love from ancient times.

Aladdin is beloved precisely because of its timelessness, set hundreds of years ago. It's a tale of living life to the fullest, embracing the unknown and a reminder that in order to love another, you first need to love yourself.
