Join “Platypus Guardian” Pete Walsh for an easy walk along the Hobart Rivulet, where you’ll discover Pete’s platypus-spotting strategies, and with a bit of luck, spot one for yourself. Learn about platypus habitats and behaviour, the challenges they face in the waterway, and what we can do to help protect their environment. Summer is platypus breeding season, when males tend to be quite active, and we might even get to observe some mating behaviours!
This is an easy walk along a level trail, which is generally wheelchair accessible. However, please note we may occasionally walk along sloping ground to get closer to the water. Participants can stay on the main trail, but those with limited mobility should be aware they might miss small sections of the tour.
The regular walk will start and finish at C3, 64 Anglesea St, near the playground.
The family friendly mini walk will start at the Cascade Gardens, near the car park, and finish on the Rivulet Track near C3.
