The Huon Art Awards is a much-loved annual art competition and exhibition showcasing local and Tasmanian talent since 2002. Open to artists of all ages and experience levels, it is one of Southern Tasmania's longest-running art exhibitions, bringing together community, creativity and a wide mix of artistic styles under one roof.
In 2026, the exhibition features over 280 artworks across oil, acrylic, watercolour, printmaking, drawing, 3D works, photography, mixed media, woodwork and ceramics. Alongside established artists, the exhibition proudly includes student works, offering visitors the chance to view and purchase original pieces directly from the creators.
The 2026 Huon Art Awards runs Saturday 7 March to Sunday 22 March, open daily from 10am to 4pm, at the historic Cygnet Town Hall in the Huon Valley. Entry is free.
The exhibition officially opens with an Opening Night and Awards Presentation on Friday 6 March 2026, from 6.30pm. Gold coin donations are accepted for drinks, with raffle tickets available (cash only).
Set in the heart of the Huon Valley, the exhibition is well placed for visitors to enjoy the region's galleries, cafes, local produce, waterways and relaxed country atmosphere, making it an easy and rewarding stop for art lovers exploring Southern Tasmania.
