The 2025 Lunar New Year Festival will be celebrating the Year of the Snake.
This festival is held on picturesque Parliament House Lawns, with a wide variety of family-focused activities. It is the largest celebration of the Lunar New Year in Tasmania, bringing together communities to mark the most important celebration in Asia.
The festival focuses on Asian food, entertainment, cultural performances and fun for young families.
Highlights include:
- lion dances
- cultural displays
- non-stop entertainment
- three metre long fire crackers which create lots of noise and smoke when lit.
- food stalls showcasing Asian festive foods
- Panda Zone (children's zone) focused on child friendly interactive activities
Entry is free.
The event is organised by the Chinese Community Association of Tasmania and supported by the City of Hobart.
