The exhibition is a site -specific collaboration between artist Brigita Ozolins & musician Dean Stevenson to the long history of women who were psychiatric patients in the Ladies Cottage at New Norfolk's Willow Court.

OPEN THE DOOR is inspired by the fact that inpatient admission to the Cottage required only two signatures, but release required eight. It reflects on the obvious challenge this policy must have presented to residents. OPEN THE DOOR aims to show that despite the challenges faced by the residents of the Ladies Cottage, many were not powerless and had an inner strength that enabled them to open the door to a life beyond Willow Court.

Morning Tea and Historic Tour
Every Saturday in April; as an addition to visiting the exhibition you can book a Morning Tea and Historic Tour with a guide to hear about the stories behind the art and heritage of Ladies Cottage. Enjoy the exhibition before the crowd arrives whilst indulging on morning tea. There are limited spots, so book your tickets today. Tours will commence Saturdays in April from 10-11am.
