A cosy cafe serving brunch, lunch and speciality coffee right in the heart of the Cat and Fiddle Arcade.
Intro Coffee is the newest addition to the Cat and Fiddle Arcade. You’ll find owner and coffee enthusiast Eason working his magic at the coffee machine daily.
Eason welcomed us into the Scandinavian-inspired space this week alongside his partner and fellow owner Demi.
Creating a café where coffee is just as important as the food, Eason’s passion for a good brew really shines through. After moving to Australia to study engineering, he found that the life of a student wasn’t as exciting or interesting to him as being a barista. So Eason decided to quit his studies and pursue his dream of all things coffee – five years of experience later and he is opening up his first cafe. The name ‘Intro Coffee’ pays homage to the idea of ‘just starting’ his dream.
The Hello Hobart team, as caffeine addicts, gives the coffee a tick of approval. The coffee is sourced from a local roaster, Ludwig the Merchant, with a special blend made just for Intro Coffee. If coffee isn’t your jam, there’s plenty of other beverage options too. Our top pick would have to be the ‘Choco Rama’ smoothie.
In addition to the coffee, an array of delicious food was served up for us during our visit. We were definitely spoilt! There were waffles topped with pulled pork, house-cured salmon salad, a grilled chicken burger, pumpkin and feta croquettes with avocado crema and jalapenos, and South Arm pinkeye chips with smoked garlic aioli. It was a feast fit for a king (or queen!).
The food is a mix of classic café food and reinterpretations of dishes. For example, the eggs are like a classic eggs benedict, but with pork instead of bacon and chipotle hollandaise to spice it up | Head chef Carl
With an emphasis on using local produce, they also make all their sauces, cured salmon, and press tortillas in house! The food is honest, high in quality and simply delicious. All day food service is offered from 7.30 am-2.30 pm, so if you do shift work and crave a burger early morning, head here for your fix.
Side note: if you love an indoor plant, you will love this place with Monsteras and the like scattered everywhere – and looking a lot healthier than this author’s own house plants!
If you want scrumptious eats and top notch coffee, find them on the first floor of the Cat & Fiddle Arcade, next to Priceline.
When I was young, I had the dream of owning a grocery shop just so I could eat everything! And now I have a café, so I can eat everything here | Demi
