Summer is officially over (say it ain’t so!) but we still have plenty of time to take advantage of sunshine and daylight savings. Looking to mix up your routine, get those steps up, or keen to find a new community of likeminded pals? Don’t sweat it – we’ve listed five ways you can move and groove into March!
Get Zen. Ever tried yoga in the great outdoors? Well now is your time! Enjoy a FREE yoga class in the beautiful St Davids Park on a Tuesday evening. It’s truly the perfect way to unwind after a long day. Free yoga in the park is part of the Healthy Hobart program. Check out their other activities including Tai Chi and Dancing for kids! The Spring/Summer program wraps up on the 26 March so still plenty of time to get movin’.
Run Forrest, run. You don’t have to have the stamina of Forrest Gump to go for a jog. Have you checked out all the free running groups and events on offer in Hobart? There is the amazing volunteer led Park Run on Saturday mornings at the Queens Domain, Knock Offs Run Club on Thursday, Croissant Run Club Sunday, and Hobart Trail Runners Social Run on Wednesdays. These groups often finish at a pub or café so there is always an opportunity for post run hydration, chats, and refueling (croissant anyone?).
Walk This Way. Ever tried bird watching? Why not choose one of the ten newly published Hobart City Bird Walks? Hobart’s mix of landscapes within a small geographical area has created a bird watcher’s paradise – and is home to eleven of the twelve species found only in Tasmania! Each Bird Walk lists which birds you might be lucky enough to spot – keep those peepers peeled for our feathered friends!
Just Dance. TUSA Social Dance Society are hosting a FREE intro Salsa Class at the Hobart Twilight Market at Long Beach, Sandy Bay on March 8! Embrace your inner dancing queen (or king) and learn from the best in a fun and relaxed environment. Hobart College Performing Arts House Band will be bringing the tunes and good vibes, so kick back afterwards and enjoy the great music and delicious street food.
