Looking for a cheeky arvo tipple this weekend? Here are the gems we’ve uncovered on our trail of the best sips around town!
Chandelier Lounge,
Lenna of Hobart
The Lenna of Hobart encapsulates the true sense of a destination for an elevated tipple. Ranked in the top 10% of hotels worldwide and with their own boutique distillery, the space oozes history and charm. Stroll outside and find stunning gardens and a courtyard terrace or soak up views of the river and kunanyi from the secret viewing room.
The Chandelier bar is open every day from 10am til late, we recommend a deeper experience and book in a boutique distillery tour, whether you’re a gin lover, or a whisky connoisseur, tours include both. (Bookings here).
For cosier times sit by the fire with a glass in the Chandelier bar, game of chess if you will, it’s as if you were relaxing in your own (luxurious) living room.
⏳ Open every day from 10am til late.
Happy Hour: 5pm to 6pm and 8pm to 9pm.
$8 Tasmanian beers and wine.
Manky Sally’s
Manky Sally’s is word play for Salamanca and is Moo Brew’s nano-brewery / taphouse where brews are dreamed up and drunk up. It has one of the best nooks in the area, a marble table framed by an incredible wall of glass bottles.
Don’t miss the chance to head along to After Market (runs monthly), for limited releases of both brews and vinyl. This Saturday, 15th November, from 4pm, the lords from South Weight Hi-Fi will undoubtedly be spinning some serious tunes.
It’s not called a luxurious dive bar by chance, there’s no judgement – just pure enjoyment.
⏳ Open Monday to Wednesday, 4pm to late.
Thursday to Sunday, 12pm to late.
Rosie In My Midnight Dreams
No list of Hobart’s best spots would be complete without a mention of Rosie In My Midnight Dreams, floating gracefully at Brooke Street Pier on Hobart’s waterfront. It’s the perfect blend of boujee and laid-back charm.
Laurel will guide you on exploring new and local wines, whip you up classic cocktails (hello margaritas) serve up honest, delicious food – with a nod to local producers, all the while lining up the next vinyl.
It’s a light bright space that has brought together magical collabs of local chefs and winemakers (miss you Martini Linguini), with more on the horizon.
Whether you’re stopping in for an after-work drink, popping by before your ferry, curing yourself with a Bloody Mary, or just enjoying a glass of wine while soaking in the sun, Rosie’s always delivers. Expect great music, great people-watching, and an all-around good time.
⏳ Thursday to Monday, from 8am (hours differ).
Ogee
Take a step inside and discover a charming 28-seat wine bar from Matt Breen (of Sonny and ex-Templo).
The longer you’re there, the more you understand the thoughtfulness that’s gone into every detail. From ingredients, the wine list (lit), the service – so very considered, even the speakers are magnifique.
Open for lunch, dinner, and late-night drinks, it’s a lovely spot for a glass or two.
Round up a pal and clink glasses.
⏳ Lunch: Friday to Sunday, 12pm to 2:30pm.
⏳ Dinner: Wednesday to Saturday, 5pm to 9:30pm.
Sunday, 5pm to 8:30pm.
& Five! – Fern Tree Tavern
Ok so we’ve elevated our way right up to the hub for many mountain goers. Fern Tree Tav is a spot where the vibe is equal parts Twin Peaks on the inside and après-ski on the outside. It’s a family-friendly haven, fur babies welcome too.
It’s the perfect spot to warm up with a tipple after a walk, cool down after a bike ride, or simply enjoy the vibe with some live music. With crackling fires to keep you cosy, a selection of Tasmanian beers, wines, and spirits, plus a pool table, it’s got everything you need.
This one’s for the keen mountaineers!
⏳Wednesday – Sunday, 11:30am – 8:30pm
Cheers to the weekend! 🍷
We’ve sipped our way through these spots and hope you will too. Discover Hobart’s hidden gems and enjoy the incredible local flavours we’re so lucky to have!
