The National Indian Film Festival of Australia (NIFFA) is Australia's first and only national celebration of Indian cinema, and the largest nationwide showcase of Indian films anywhere outside India.
From 25 to 28 June 2026, NIFFA arrives in Tasmania for the very first time, bringing its national celebration of Indian cinema to Hobart's iconic State Cinema. As part of the festival's 14 city Australian tour, audiences will experience a curated program of contemporary Indian cinema, acclaimed filmmakers, actors, and cultural voices, reflecting the diversity and dynamism of one of the world's most influential film industries.
Alongside Australian premieres and special screenings, NIFFA Tasmania will present a special filmmaker event featuring a screening followed by an audience interaction with the filmmaker, offering a rare opportunity to engage directly with the creative process behind the work. The festival will also host a dedicated acting masterclass at Kickstart Arts, providing aspiring actors, filmmakers, and creative practitioners with valuable insights into performance and screen craft.
Through film, conversation, and cultural exchange, NIFFA Tasmania aims to connect audiences with the richness of contemporary Indian storytelling while creating meaningful opportunities for learning, engagement, and community participation.
