Located on Campbell Street, tucked away on the ground floor of the fancy new K block of the Royal Hobart Hospital is Pounds + Ounces. A spacious café, this place is not only ideal if you are visiting a loved one in hospital but is open to the public and perfect to stop in with offerings for breakfast, lunch and snack times in-between.

Hello Hobart sat down with manager Pete to chat about what you can expect from this new cafe on the block (get it, K block!).

Customer’s favourite pick at Pounds & Ounces is the Tradie Breakfast Bun for breakfast or the Chicken Swiss Turkish toastie for lunch. The Chicken Swiss is also Pete’s personal fave, and despite him trying to branch out every day, it’s the one he enjoys time and time again.

Pete highly recommends we download the Pounds & Ounces app which allows you to order online whilst also earning you loyalty points.

In the same space you will find Green Panda Sushi, also operated by Pete and his team. This space is more dedicated to lunch and offers everything from sushi, sushi bowls and hot food such as chicken katsu.

The team are happy to accommodate allergies and offer a wide variety of gluten-free and vegan options.

Pete and his wife are both dedicated to their business, with Pete’s wife busily preparing the food from 4.30 am. They both have a history in hospitality working together for the past 40 years.

“We have never even had an argument at work. We work together really well” | Pete

Open Monday to Saturday, you can find the team located on the ground floor of K Block which is on the Campbell Street side of the RHH.
