After a long week, all we want, and all we need, is a good (vego) pub feed! It can be hard to find that greasy, meatless meal that hits the spot after a long day. But the search is over, as we’ve managed to find the top 5 vego pub grub hubs in Hobart! We give you our Friday Five – Vegetarian Pub feeds!

🐶The Winston

This iconic pub lives on the corner of the NoHo strip and is renowned for its buffalo wings. But they’ve also got a mass vego cult following, and it’s not hard to see why. Serving up mouth-watering vegetarian ‘chicken’ burgers, tacos, and our fave The Vegan Shammy! –  the vegetarian equivalent to a Big Mac! The ‘Winnie’, as the locals call it, is a pub that welcomes everyone with open arms. Covered wall to wall in photos of dogs, and a gaming room full of pinball machines and arcade-racing games. This pub is a MUST.

Located at 381 Elizabeth Steet, North Hobart

🍔The Mayfair Bar

This bottle shop slash pub is the home to many trivia nights and live music events. But it’s mostly known for its delicious vegetarian and vegan options – so many in fact that they have a whole separate menu! Our top picks are the Napoli vegan parmi and the vegan spicy fried burger. Both pair perfectly with an ice-cold cider or beer on tap. The Mayfair has card and board games galore, for when you want to test a friendship by playing Uno. Or it’s the ultimate date night spot, right in the heart of Sandy Bay.

Located in the Mayfair Shopping Plaza, Sandy Bay Road

🍺Cascade Brewery Bar

There’s nothing more emblematic of Hobart than the Cascade Brewery, it is also home to a brewery bar that serves up a MEAN cauliflower parmi! Served over chips, of course. They also offer a spiced veggie burger that goes down well with their iconic Cascade beer and cider. Enjoy a cold one inside or in their lush beer garden. The bar is adjacent to the stunning brewery, providing that perfect insta-worthy shot. Need to walk off that parmi? Opt for one of their walking tours of the brewery. An absolute Hobart icon that needs to be seen to be believed.

Located 140 Cascade Road, South Hobart

🥃Overland Brewery

Whisky, beer and burgers – nuff said! Established in 2020, this whiskey bar slash taproom is the perfect place to take a load off by the wood heater, and enjoy their succulent vegan cheeseburger from their resident food truck. Wash it down with their iconic Overland IPA, or try their new Blackberry & Bay Spritz! Enjoy a game of pool, jenga, or bask in the spring sun in their outdoor area. Located in NoHo across from Soundy’s Dog Park, what better spot to recharge after taking the dog for a run? This brewery is one-of-a-kind and the perfect spot to catch up with mates made even better on Sundays for their half-price burger deals!

Located 284 Argyle Street, North Hobart

🥤The Standard

Hobart’s own 80’s themed burger joint lives up to the hype, with several vegetarian burgers to satisfy your pub meal cravings. These American-style burgers are locally renowned, whether it’s the fake chicken, fake patty, or the fake schnitzel – you can’t go wrong! Best served with The Standard’s famous thickshakes (we recommend the Tim Tam flavour). Enjoy a burger and bev on their tiki-themed rooftop bar overlooking the CBD. The Standard isn’t just a burger joint, it’s an experience.

Located 177 Liverpool street, Hobart
