Aside from Dark Mofo‘s official program of events, our local business community are getting involved in the festivities by running a number of events and activities to embrace the dark.
La Dark Sardina. Party animals unite – La Sardina Loca’s courtyard will transform into a d-floor, showcasing some of Tassie’s well known + up & coming DJs for three nights only. Free entry.
Midnight Ramen. Bar Wa Izakaya’s popular midnight ramen is back! Grab your mates and slurp noodles at midnight – you know you want to. Bookings essential.
Dark Winter Solstice. White Sage Skin & Wellness have curated a decadent Dark Mofo package designed to refresh your senses. The package includes a beautiful immersion of elements designed to restore balance within you and refresh tired, lack lustre skin. Bookings essential.
Bark Mofo. A dark feast for dogs and their humans at the Fern Tree Tavern. There will be an art show featuring dog-themed work as well as several award categories, including the award for dogs and owners who look most alike, and for best-dressed dog.
Waiting Room (Gin Bar). A pop-up bar at the Gin Bar on the 22nd, 23rd and 24th of June. Embrace your dark desires and come along to explore the visual and liquid temptations on offer, brought to you over three evening by three local Hobart bar personalities.
Paint the Town Red. Destination Southern Tasmania are calling for businesses, shops, and public spaces around southern Tasmania to Paint The Town Red 2024! Keep your eyes peeled for vibrant red lighting, red drinks, red food, red decorations and more. Don’t forget to take a snap of your favourite businesses and enter the photography competition!
SOCIETY x Mofo Masquerade. Descend into Society – Salamanca in disguise to celebrate dark arts and dark drinks. The event will feature roving performances from drag doll Nikkie Glamour and burlesque babe Bonnie Rogue. One night only – 15th of June. Tickets available online.
Natty Waves. A trip down the River Derwent on a floating natural wine bar with a surreal soundtrack – sound intriguing? Jump on board for a cruise on the iconic City of Hobart on the 14th, 15th or 16th of June. Tickets online.
Dark Fringe. A number of events will take place across the city at venues including the Grand Poobah and the Town Hall Underground. Check out their website for more information.
After Dark at the Den. The Den Salamanca are leaning into the sounds of jazz, funk and soul this winter season and we can’t wait! Live music and late night DJs will be hitting the Den after day from 7pm on the 14th/15th and 21st/22nd of June.
Dark Impro. Love improv? Protea Impro have got you. No script, no worries! Watch as two teams battle it out in improvised scenes and games to see who will gain the right to hold aloft the As Yet Unnamed Perpetual Trophy. Friday 21st June – tickets online.
Redding the Sails- Ahoy! Jump on board the The Lady Nelson
for one of their traditional “Redding the Sails’ night sailing events! Enjoy the (red) city lights of Hobart from the water and live music from local musicians as you sail across the river Derwent. Rug up and wear red! Tickets online.
