Is there anything more iconic than grabbing a glass of Tassie wine, a plate of fresh seafood, and cheering on the Sydney to Hobart yacht crews at the Taste of Summer? We think not! Head down to the waterfront for the annual Taste of Summer festival, where you’ll find the best of Tassie food, wine, and live entertainment. Wrest Point Hotel’s Glitter & Gold Celebration
Celebrate in style at Wrest Point with their Glitter & Gold-themed NYE celebration. Enjoy live entertainment, plenty of delicious food options and a fun festive atmosphere to welcome the New Year! La Sardina Loca’s New Year’s Eve Courtyard Session
La Sardina Loca is hosting a New Year’s Eve Courtyard Session! Bring in the New Year with paella and live DJs in the beautiful La Sardina Courtyard. Grab your crew, your dancing shoes and jump on their website to snag a ticket. Tickets are limited so get in quick!
It’s all happening on New Year’s Eve at the Tele with live music on the ground floor from 5pm – 8pm, and DJs on their iconic rooftop from 8pm – 1am. Dance your way into 2025 while watching the fireworks from the rooftop! Bookings recommended for Ground Floor and Level 1 – Rooftop is first in, best dressed, so get down early to secure your spot!
The gorgeously green Franklin Square transforms into a hub of delicious street food and live entertainment at this free, family-friendly event. Running from 4:30 PM to 11:00 PM, it’s a great way to catch up with friends, grab some food and a bevvy and enjoy some great live music as you count down to 2025.
Crowne Plaza Hobart’s Party in the Sky
Elevate your NYE experience with Crowne Plaza Hobart’s exclusive “Party in the Sky” in their Plaza Club Lounge on level 12. Enjoy great views of the city’s fireworks, a four-hour beverage package, canapés, and a live DJ. Tickets available online.
Grinners Dive Bar is throwing a New Year’s Eve party, featuring $5.50 tacos and drink specials (including frozen margs!). Book yourself a table, grab a spicy marg, and make the most of Taco Tuesday!
The team at Restaurant Maria are hosting a NYE Dinner and Afterparty @ Maria. Think delicious late-night snacks like gyros + potato cakes (done the Aløft-Maria way), special cocktails, a DJ and floor-to-ceiling views of the midnight fireworks. Doors open at 10:30pm – tickets are booked out but walk-ins available on the night (subject to capacity).

City of Hobart Fireworks Displays
The City of Hobart will host two spectacular fireworks displays over the River Derwent:
- 9:30 PM: Perfect for families and early celebrations.
- Midnight: Ring in 2025 with a dazzling finale. The waterfront and nearby areas provide excellent viewing spots for both displays.
Each display will last 8 minutes.
The fireworks will be set off from two barges on the River Derwent and the Waterfront is a perfect place to watch.
This year, the Regatta Grounds will have a designated viewing area on the grassy hill looking over Macquarie Point to the Derwent and fireworks. This space will be car-free and have a food van, lighting, safety angels and toilets available. It’s a perfect spot to watch the action with space for picnic rugs and children to play.
