Get caffeinated

The options for caffeination in Midtown are endless! The Stagg Midtown, Somewhere Coffee Bar, Imago Bakery & Patisserie, The Crows Nest, Island Espresso or Basket & Green are all serving up brews – it’s a coffee lovers paradise!

Why not grab a takeaway + a bite and check out The Loop – a digital art platform (located in the courtyard in front of the student accommodation at 157 Elizabeth street) which has a full daily program that features a host of creative and experimental digital content from both Tasmanian creators and national contributors.

Enjoy a tipple

You’ve come to the right place! Check out Rude Boy Hobart for rum and tropical vibes, Grinners Dive Bar for margaritas and Mexican street food, Sonny Hobart for wines and house party vibes, La Sardina Loca is your friendly neighbourhood aperitivo bar, molto_hobart is one of the new kids on the block for wine + small-plate dining, Shambles Brewery for beers and burgers and Bar Wa Izakaya for sake, ramen (lunchtimes only) and the karaage chicken of your dreams.

Partake in some retail therapy

There are a bunch of unique shops in Midtown so you’re guaranteed to find that perfect gift (either for a special someone or maybe just even for yourself?).

Geographica (travel and adventure bookshop), Lily & Dot (gifts for baby, home and you), Ken Self Cycle Centre (bikes, bikes bikes!), Ware Bros. Cutlery – The Knife Shop (Hobart’s only retail blade specialist), Teros (for healthy, green and fair-trade products), McCann’s Music (one-stop-shop for musical instruments, equipment and accessories), CWA Gift Shop, Hobart, Tasmania (craft, jam, flowers, cakes and gifts), the maker (a collection of handmade clothes, jewellery and more), Solda’s Music (second hand guitars, amps + vinyls), Tradewear (you guessed it!), and Tommy Gun Records (new and second hand vinyl + turntables + music tees).

Park easy

Make the most of the easy parking underneath the UTAS Apartments on the corner of Elizabeth and Melville Streets – there are 90 carparks available to the public! You can access the parking via Melville Street – just head up the ramp to level 2 and jump on a 3-hour meter. Too easy.

Coffee meeting? After work drinks? Shopping expedition? Make it to Midtown!
